Ingredients Use a ready made pasty case, shop-bought or homemade, up to you. Filling 3 dessert spoons of golden syrup 85g cornflake cereal 55g butter 25g brown sugar 1 pinch of salt 100g strawberry jam | After i posted how to make the school dinner favourite, toffee cream tart, the response was very enthusiastic and a couple of people asked me to find a recipe for cornflake tart... so here it is! I tried cooking it myself this afternoon and only took an hour at most. I'd recommend buying the cheap 30p cornflakes that aren't pre-coated in sugar, and use a savoury pastry to avoid a sugar overload. Method * Roll out the pastry and place within the tin. * Place in the oven at 200°C / gas mark 6 until golden brown in colour. *In a pan melt the butter, brown sugar, golden syrup and salt together. * Once the sugar has dissolved gradually add the cornflakes to the mixture, ensuring the cornflakes are completely coated in the syrup. * Take pastry out of the oven and spread the jam over the base. * Take your cornflake mixture and pour over the jam, making sure the filling is spread evenly. * Place back into the oven and cook for another 5 minutes. *Take out of oven and allow to cool slightly before dividing up into individual portions and places in the fridge to set. |
